Guro ako. Hindi guro lang!? These powerful words were delivered with conviction by the keynote speaker as SDO Lucena City celebrated the 2024 World Teachersâ?? Day at the Quezon Convention Center on October 4. The celebration began with energizing remarks from SGOD Chief, Dr. Epifania F. Carandang, who reminded everyone to remain vigilant and prioritize safety inside the venue. In line with this yearâ??s theme, Together4Teachers, the dynamic Schools Division Superintendent of Lucena, Susan DL. Oribiana, expressed her gratitude to the Gurong Lucenahins. She emphasized that all teachers are truly deserving of appreciation, admiration, approval, and attention. Superintendent Oribiana praised Lucenahin teachers as embodiments of dignity, credibility, passion, dedication, and integrity. In her keynote address, Engr. Edenia O. Libranda, OIC â?? Office of the Assistant Schools Division Superintendent, delivered an inspiring message to the teachers. She shared how she chose to become an educator instead of pursuing her original career path. She reminded the audience that teaching is a noble profession, one that will never become obsolete. Engr. Libranda underscored that teachers deserve honor and recognition for their vital role in shaping the young minds of today, despite the challenges they face, including modest salaries. She also commended the SDO Lucena teaching force for their loyalty, dedication, and commitment to nurturing Batang Lucenahinsâ??future contributors to a better society and nation-building. Mayor Mark Don Victor â??Kuya Markâ? B. Alcala once again charmed the teachers with his warm gestures, capturing their attention. He reaffirmed his unwavering support for DepEd Lucena and promised to approve any projects spearheaded by SDO Lucena. Representing Governor Angelina â??Helenâ? Tan, her son, Doc Kim Tan, extended his motherâ??s heartfelt greetings to the teachers. Additionally, Fourth Alcala, on behalf of Vice Governor Anacleto â??Thirdâ? Alcala, expressed admiration for the Gurong Lucenahins. All public elementary and secondary schools in SDO Lucena City participated in the synchronized programs, with teachers enthusiastically bid their yells. Ultimately, all districts across the division were declared winners. The event was made even more memorable with the distribution of lavish raffle prizes, adding joy and excitement to the celebration. The event truly embodied the spirit of unity, gratitude, values, and virtues which imbibe the common good and excellence of all the teachers not only in Lucena City but also across the globe. //Andy G.
