SIL empowers Rural Farm Schools: 50 Native Tree Seedlings and Vegetable Seeds donated to SDO Lucena

 In celebration of Soroptimist Week, under the theme "Empowering Women, Protecting the Earth," Soroptimist International Lucena (SIL), led by President Atty. Rhaetia Marie Abcede-Llaga, made a meaningful environmental contribution to the Schools Division of Lucena. The group donated 50 native tree seedlings and vegetable seeds, aiming to promote sustainability and eco-consciousness within local educational institutions last August 27, 2024. The turnover ceremony was graced by key members of SIL, including Board of Director Juliet Z. Villanueva and Member Dr. Dianne Pensander, adviser Ms.Mila Carlos alongside officials from DepEd Lucena. Notable attendees included Dr. Epifania F. Carandang, Chief of the School Governance and Operations Division (SGOD), Dr. Karina R. Bautista, Education Program Supervisor, and Dr. Belen M. Andal, Social Mobilization SEPS. Additionally, Project Development Officers for Youth Formation, Rosebelle F. Castrillo and Donna L. Malasarte were present to lend their support in the event. The donated seedlings and vegetable seeds will be distributed to the city's Rural Farm Schools, furthering the joint commitment of SIL and DepEd to fostering environmental stewardship and sustainability in education. This initiative not only seeks to enrich the natural environment but also aligns with the broader goal of providing inclusive and equitable quality education while promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all students.
